Drainage, Doors & Debris Clean-up - Oh My!
Depending on what might be lurking underneath your home we may suggest other services to help control moisture, properly insulate or improve the health of your crawl space. Here are a few of the common ones that we see as we are installing dehumidifiers and vapor barriers in homes.
insulation that is hanging or no longer pushed against your floors is no longer doing its job and may be drawing moisture and attracting critters and insects to your home.
REPLACE OR REHANG FLOOR INSULATION
Most of us don't spend much time in our crawl spaces and over time insulation gets old, torn or simply slips out of place and can be seen hanging down into your crawl space. This hanging insulation can create a number of different problems. If there isn't a consistent layer of insulation then your floors are not being properly insulated and you are losing energy. If the insulation is touching the ground it may be wicking moisture, this moisture allows mold to grow on joists and floorboards. Loose insulation also makes a great home for critters and insects to live, (they don't seem to mind the itch like we do).
Depending on your needs, we can rehang existing insulation or replace it as needed. Replacing old insulation not only removes the dirt, mold and pests that call it home it will also help save you money on your energy bills.

DRAINAGE PROBLEMS, TRENCHING AND EXCAVATION
Depending on how your home was built, your crawl space may not be level underneath your home or your landscape may be allowing water to build up in specific areas in your crawl space. If this is the case we will dig trenches to make sure that drainage flows out from under your home or perhaps to a sump pump as needed.
If there are excessive drainage problems we will look at solutions both under your home as well as outside the crawl space to better control run-off and water coming in contact with the foundation. This may be addressed with landscaping or external drainage lines.

Often there is left over building materials, old insulation or even broken appliances that are left in a crawl space. This debris becomes a habitat for animals, collects moisture and only adds to crawl space problems. We can help remove and dispose of any debris under your home.
